The Secret Dwelling Place - 2

Part 2 From Yesterday’s Post

What is the secret dwelling place? It’s crawling up into daddy’s lap and experiencing his love. Some of people have never experienced God’s love in this special way and I believe there are several reasons why they haven’t.

The first reason is we just don’t spend enough time with God. Many people believe that if they go to church on Sunday and some form of bible study during the week, they are close to God. God encourages us to meet together to worship him, but that’s only one or two days a week. Worshiping God on Sunday should be a result of us worshiping him Monday through Saturday.

Jesus came to earth and died so that anyone, Jew or Gentile, could have complete access with his Father. Wow! Look at how much was done for us just so we can spend time with our heavenly Father. God has an open door policy and on the door is written, “Open to all, at any time. Please come in.” We just need to walk in.

The second reason is some of us have come to expect our pastor, or our worship leader, to bring us into God’s presence. This misconception has been around for a long time. The enemy has tried to rob us of God’s open door policy. In Exodus 34, Moses went up Mt. Sinai to talk with God. He came down the mountain with the Glory of God shining on his face. The people cried out, cover your face or we will die. We can’t come face to face with God’s presence. Moses put a veil on his face until the glory disappeared. The people chose to separate themselves from God’s presence. When Jesus came and died on the cross, the veil within the tabernacle, which was used to separate man from God, was miraculously torn in two. From that moment on anyone who wanted to come before God, without someone else’s intervention, could.

The third and final reason is that we try to hide what we've done wrong and hope no one notices. Remember when you were a child and you did something wrong. You didn’t want to tell your mom and dad, and would try to avoid them for as long as possible. Relationship was broken between the two of you, and the only way to restore it was to admit to doing wrong and ask for their forgiveness. It’s the same with our relationship with God. The Lord will never force us to do anything. He gave us free will. It’s crazy not to take care of it, because God already knows what we’ve done. We can’t hide things from him the way we did from our earthly parents. He just waits with open arms. The minute we come to him and tell him we were wrong, God forgives us and immediately surrounds us with his love. Our relationship is restored.

Nothing can compare with a father’s love Once you’ve looked into your heavenly father’s eyes, and hear him tell you he loves you, you are hooked! When he picks you up, you will keep coming back for more. Congratulations! You have just found the secret dwelling place!
